AKTIVITI

      - Teacher explains that when writing essays it is important that students begin with a good introduction which attracts the attention of the reader and serves as a guide to give them the direction as they develop their ideas.
      - Students learn about the 6 strategies of beginning their essay
      - Teacher guides the students as the students practice writing the introduction of the essay

-          Teacher explains to the students that in our daily activities we often come across a situation where we have to describe or give detailed information about something or someone
-          We give descriptions based on our own observations and exxperience, gathered through the use of the five senses namely sight, hearing, smell, touch and taste.
-          Teacher gets students to learn about the main patterns of writing a descriptive essay such as dominant impression, spatial order, general to specific and specific to general.

Students were able to understand better the four patterns of writing descriptive essay.

Students will be able to grasp the meaning of the text and pick out the key points.
AKTIVITI
-          Teacher explains to the students that when they listen for main ideas they should try to grasp for the general meaning of the text and pick out the key points.
-          When they take notes they should extract key points from the listening text and reorganise them to produce a logical outline.
-          Students listen to the programme on Health and You and complete the tasks given in the worksheet.
CATATAN / REFLEKSI
-          Two third of the students were able to complete the tasks well and one third reasonably satisfactorily.

-          Teacher exxplains to the students that discourse markers are words or group of words that connect thoughts and ideas together.
-          Teacher shows some examples of sentences connected by these discourse markers and students do some practice on it.

Most of the students, two thirds of them were able to construct the sentences using the discourse markers taught.

-          Students answer the objective questions while listening to the recording text pertaining to the questions.

Half of the students were able to get their answers correctly answered while the rest answered it satisfactorily.

i. Teacher explains to the students that when a speaker discusses a subject, he usually conveys a lot of factual information
ii. At the same time he may also add hos own opinions i.i. what he thinks or believes about the subject or issue
iii. Therefore, to distinguish between factual information from opinions a speaker usually uses specific expressions such as:

It has been found that ...
-          These are some common expressions used to express factual information
Below are some common expressions used to give personal opinions;

I personally believe ...
iv. Students practice giving factual information and personal opinions using the expressions taught to them on a given issue.
