i.                     Teacher gets the students to talk about the story that they have read based on the characters, the conflict or the problem that exists in the story.
ii.                   Teacher then gets the students to read a passage entitled “Durian” and after that gets the students to find the meaning of the following words based on the text they had read.
Reflection
Students were quite able to find the exact meanings of the words based on the passage they read with the teacher’s guide.

i.                     Teacher explains that to infer means to form an opinion or make a judgement based on the facts that the writer provided and also on their own experience. When we make inferences, we make an educated guess about something which is not directly stated.
ii.                   Teacher gives a short paragraph to the students and gets them to choose the inference that best fits the information given.
Reflection
Students need to take this lesson again as a reinforcement.

i.                     Teacher explains that when we listen to a speaker, we realize that we are able to guess what he is going to say next. It is a natural inclination for us as a listener to complete unfinished utterances or fill in the gaps in someone else’s speech.
ii.                   Teacher gives example of a situation where students can practice their skill of predicting outcomes.
iii.                  Teacher gives an exercise where students have to predict the kind of responses that Mr Lim will probably make.
Reflection
Students need to take this lesson again as they were not doing well in predicting the responses Mr. Lim will probably make.

Students need the teacher’s guidance to help them to carry out the suggested task given.

Reflection
Most of the students were able to describe the pictures shown to them while they were working in pairs.

This lesson is quite challenging for the students so the teacher has to guide the students all the way to enable them to complete the task.

Reflection
This lesson is quite challenging for the students to acquire so they will take the lesson again for reinforcement.
