Previous Knowledge:
In the previous lesson, students have learnt preposition of place and are
exposed to several texts on interesting places. They were also exposed to
simple prepositions of direction (up, down, into, out of) in Form Three and
can use the learnt prepositions appropriately.

Specific objectives :
By the end of the lesson, student should be able to:
1. Identify the general idea of the given text by answering
comprehension questions (Who, Where, When, How and Why) and
skimming for the gist
2. State the specific information of the given text by scanning for
details.
3. Recognise the use of preposition of direction (such as: across,
along, over, toward) according to context.
4. Draw a route on a map based on the preposition of direction given.
Teaching aids :
Reading text, maps [see appendices] PowerPoint slides can be used when
presenting some important points to the students.

Students will be able to use specific expressions to distinguish factual information from opinions
Specific
Students will be able to express factual information such as “research has shown that ...” and “In my opinion ...” to give personal opinions.
AKTIVITI
            i. Teacher explains to the students that when a speaker discusses a subject, he usually conveys a lot of factual information
            ii. At the same time he may also add hos own opinions i.i. what he thinks or believes about the subject or issue
            iii. Therefore, to distinguish between factual information from opinions a speaker usually uses specific expressions such as:
Research has shown that ...
According to Professor ...
It has been found that ...
These are some common expressions used to express factual information
Below are some common expressions used to give personal opinions;
In my opinion ...
I believe ...
I personally believe ...
            iv. Students practice giving factual information and personal opinions using the expressions taught to them on a given issue.
CATATAN / REFLEKSI 
      - Students were able to give both factual information and personal opinions satisfactorily on the issue given using the expressions taugtht.

Students will be able to students will e abl;e to write the introductions of their essay using any one of the strategies taught

Students will be able to write the introduction of an essay using a general statement and later narrow it down to the thesis statement
AKTIVITI
      - TTeacher explains that when writing essays it is important that students begin with a good introduction which attracts the attention of the reader and serves as a guide to give them the direction as they develop their ideas.
      - Students learn about the 6 strategies of beginning their essay
      - Teacher guides the students as the students practice writing the introduction of the essay
