St   Strategies to begin an essay
General
Students will be able to students will e abl;e to write the introductions of their essay using any one of the strategies taught
Specific
Students will be able to write the introduction of an essay using a general statement and later narrow it down to the thesis statement
AKTIVITI
- TTeacher explains that when writing essays it is important that students begin with a good introduction which attracts the attention of the reader and serves as a guide to give them the direction as they develop their ideas.
- Students learn about the 6 strategies of beginning their essay
- Teacher guides the students as the students practice writing the introduction of the essay
CATATAN / REFLEKSI
-           Most of the students were able to write a simple introduction using the strategies taught

AKTIVITI

-          Teacher explains to the students that when we write we may use a single type of organisational patterns or a combination of several types of patterns
-          Information relating to the description of places, geographical structures, pictures or buildings are usually arranged in a spatial order.
-          Teacher gets students to complete the dialogue with the help of the words given in brackets
CATATAN / REFLEKSI
-          Two thirds of the students were able to complete the task given satisfactorily

AKTIVITI
-          Teacher explains to the students that when they present they will be examined by two examiners  therefore it is imperative that they observe the guidelines of presenting their speech confidently
-          Teacher lists out the rules of how the students should present themselves and the purpose of doing so
-          Teacher gets the students to practice presenting their individual points while correcting their weaknesses.
CATATAN / REFLEKSI
Most of the students were quite able to present their points satisfactorily well under the teacher’s guidance.

Student will be able to engage in a discussion on the stimulus/topic given and decide which is the best option/suggestion for the stimulus.
AKTIVITI
-          Teacher explains to the students that when answering task B they must underline the key words or phrases in the situation and ensure that they focus on the right thing
-          At the end of their discussion they must decide which of the four options given is the most beneficial and the reasons to support their decision.
CATATAN / REFLEKSI
Most of the students were able to identify the keywords of their own task and preparing the points for their discussion

Students will be able to write the thesis statement of an essay as the controlling idea
Specific
Students will be able to develop a thesis statement for the broad subjects given as a practice.
AKTIVITI
      - Students revise back the purpose of thesis statement as a reinforcement when writing an essay
      - Thesis statement is a sentence that contains the controlling idea of an essay. It should not be too broad, or too vague
      - It is the focus of the essay and therefore should be specific
      - The thesis statement is usually found at the end of the introductory paragraph
CATATAN / REFLEKSI
Most of the students find this lesson quite a challenge to understand therefore they need further practice on the writing of thesis statement.

Students will be able to predict what is going to happen next using their general knowledge and clues in the discourse they are listening to.
AKTIVITI
     - In the introduction, students hear the speaker saying that he is going to share with them few ideas on how to communicate better with their parents
     - The phrase “how” indicates that students can expect to hear about ways or methods of improving their communications with their parents.
     - By making this prediction, they anticipate the information that they are going to hear and therefore, their ability to uderstand and remember the information increases.
CATATAN / REFLEKSI
Most of the students were not able to predict what the speaker was going to say so the teacher had to guide them in writing the prediction.

Students will be able to listen to find out the main subject or topic of the news, speech, talk or discussion
Specific
Student will be able to answer the 7 questions pertaining to the news item on a mysterious bright light and the discovery of the archaelogical site
AKTIVITI
-          Teacher explains to the students that they generally listen in order to find out the main  subject or topic of the news item, speech, talk or discussion they are listening to.
-          They also listen in order to find out how the subject or topic is dealt with
-          Students are given two news item on the discovery of an achaelogical site and a mysterious bright light that crossed the east coast of Australia.
-          Students attempt the 7 fill-in-blank questions pertaining to the two news item.
CATATAN / REFLEKSI
About two third of the students were able to answer the questions satisfactorily.
