  • Students practice presenting with their peers before the real presentation

CATATAN / REFLEKSI

Students need a lot of guidance and practice from the teacher.

Students will be able to students will be able to write the introductions of their essay using any one of the strategies taught

Specific

Students will be able to write the introduction of an essay using a general statement and later narrow it down to the thesis statement

AKTIVITI

- Teacher explains that when writing essays it is important that students begin with a good introduction which attracts the attention of the reader and serves as a guide to give them the direction as they develop their ideas.

- Students learn about the 6 strategies of beginning their essay

- Teacher guides the students as the students practice writing the introduction of the essay

CATATAN / REFLEKSI

Most of the students were able to write a simple introduction using the strategies taught though their progress was very slow

Students will be able to summarise the main points that is restating the thesis statements or the two topics given.

AKTIVITI

  • Teacher explains that writing conclusions should be brief
  • Students should write a few well-worded sentences which are adequate for a short essay
  • Teacher shows some examples on the conclusions of some chosen essays for practice with the students
  • Students practice writing conslucions under the teacher's guide.

CATATAN / REFLEKSI

  • Teacher shows an example of the introduction of an argumentative essay.
  • Teacher gets students to copy the sample introduction of an argumentative essay.
  • Students will learn the remaining part of how to write an argumentative essay.

  • Students continue their discussion with the teacher on the remaining points on the ways that enhance the 1Malaysia concept
  • Teacher guides the students while they are constructing their sentences to form paragraphs

CATATAN / REFLEKSI

Two third of the students were quite able to construct the paragraphs in pairs and the other one third needed teacher's guide to help them.
